Charles F. Lummis Home (El Alisal) and Garden
Highland Park, CA
Built between 1898 and 1910 the Lummis Home was built by Charles Fletcher Lummis which he said he built "to last a thousand years." In many respects the Lummis Home represents the beginning of the Arts & Crafts aesthetic that was to soon take the architectural world by storm--only to peak with Greene and Greene homes such as the Gamble House. Tours are free.

Claremont Heritage Walking Tour (self guided)
Claremont, CA

Darwin D. Martin House
Buffalo, NY
The Martin House Complex - Frank Lloyd Wright's 1904 masterwork is currently under restoration. All tours of the Complex are docent-led. Call (716)856-3858 for reservations.

Hollyhock House - 1921
Los Angeles, CA
Hollyhock House is Wright's first Los Angeles project. Built between 1919 and 1921, it represents his earliest efforts to develop a regionally appropriate style of architecture for Southern California. Wright himself referred to it as California Romanza, using a musical term meaning "freedom to make one's own form".

Dr. Roy Lanterman House Tour
La Cañada Flintridge, CA
In 1915, Dr. Roy Lanterman commissioned architect A. L. Haley to design a fireproof bungalow of reinforced concrete for his family and the result was a unique architectural treasure. There are many arts and crafts elements in the Lanterman house. It retains its exquisite original interiors and furnishings, including elaborate hand-painted wall and ceiling ornamentation.
